The Department of Education, Region Four District, recently hosted a vibrant secondary school dance competition for students aged 14-18, as part of the Ministry of Education’s Children’s Mashramani celebrations.

The event, held under the theme “Expressing Culture and Creativity as One Guyana,” brought together students from schools on the East Bank and East Coast of Demerara, as well as Georgetown.

Performing with energy and enthusiasm, the students showcased their talent through various dance styles, including acrobatics and hip-hop, with their peers offering loud support from the audience.

Some students shared their thoughts with NCN News about their experience and their school’s performance.

Krystal Millington from Friendship Secondary School commented on her school’s flawless solo performance, while Re-najha Ramlall from Yarrowkabra Secondary expressed her excitement about the competition, highlighting the smooth flow of the dance moves and the strong performance of her school’s team.

The finals, featuring dance and hip-hop performances, are scheduled to take place on February 14 at the National Culture Centre, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
