Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, has described Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy project as the most transformative initiative in the country’s history.

His remarks were made during an appearance on the “Energy Perspective” podcast hosted by Kiana Wilburg, CEO of the Guyana Energy Conference.

Minister Bharrat highlighted the government’s strategic approach to managing the nation’s oil resources.

Despite Guyana’s impressive daily oil output of over 640,000 barrels, he emphasized that the country is not relying solely on oil but is using its wealth to strengthen traditional sectors, including mining, agriculture, tourism, and forestry.

The goal is to create sustainable growth and long-term national development.

Central to this vision is the Gas-to-Energy project, which Bharrat believes will significantly benefit the country.

He explained that the project will make energy more affordable, driving development and attracting investment, thus transforming the country and improving the lives of its citizens.

Bharrat also noted that Guyana’s careful management of its oil resources has led to the country being chosen to chair the New Oil Producers Group for the next three years, underscoring the nation’s leadership and effective governance in the oil and gas sector.
