Guysons Incorporated, a majority Guyanese-owned manufacturing company, has expanded its operations under the Local Content Legislation, securing a manufacturing contract with ExxonMobil.
The agreement marks a significant development in the implementation of policies aimed at increasing local business participation in the oil and gas sector.
The company has reported an increased demand for skilled labour as a result of the new contract.
To support this demand, Guysons Inc. has introduced a training program for welders, offering internationally recognized City and Guilds certification.
Currently, five employees are enrolled in the program, which is designed to enhance their skills and earning potential.
The Local Content Legislation, enacted to prioritize Guyanese businesses and workers, continues to create opportunities within the sector.
Last month, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh announced that over 1,000 companies are now listed on the Local Content Register, reflecting the growing involvement of local enterprises in the industry.
Guysons Inc. remains one of the companies benefiting from this initiative, further positioning itself as a key player in Guyana’s expanding oil and gas sector.
