Seventy-eight-year-old Berenda Bowman and her husband, John Bowman, are now the proud owners of a brand-new two-bedroom home, thanks to the Men on Mission (MoM) initiative.
The couple, who previously lived in a deteriorating structure in South Ruimveldt, expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude upon receiving the keys.
“I’m glad for it because the house was in a terrible state. It was leaning, and I even fell down in it,” John Bowman shared. “So I’m happy, really happy.”
Berenda also extended her heartfelt appreciation to President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Minister Kwame McCoy, and the government for making the initiative possible.
She emphasized the importance of such programs for vulnerable citizens who lack the means to rebuild or construct their own homes.
Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister with Responsibility for Public Affairs, Hon. Kwame McCoy, attended the handover ceremony and praised the initiative’s impact.
“I would like to congratulate you and your family on this achievement.
The Men on Mission has once again demonstrated its capability, but more importantly, it reflects the love, care, and compassion of this government for the vulnerable in our country,” McCoy stated.
The Men on Mission project, spearheaded by President Irfaan Ali, is a key pillar of the “One Guyana” initiative, aimed at improving the lives of citizens in need.
This latest effort reaffirms the government’s commitment to uplifting the most vulnerable members of society.
