West Indies Coach Confident Squad Can Adapt to Pakistan Pitches Ahead of Test Series

January 15, 2025

West Indies Head Coach Andre Coley is confident that his squad will successfully adapt to the playing conditions in Pakistan as they prepare for a two-match Test series against the hosts.

The series will begin on January 17 at the Multan Cricket Stadium, marking the West Indies’ first Test series in Pakistan in over 18 years.

Coley, while looking ahead to the series, stressed the importance of the squad executing their game plan effectively.

With the ongoing 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship nearing its conclusion, Coley hopes to see significant growth from the West Indies team during this series.

In the current World Test Championship standings, Pakistan is in seventh place, while the West Indies occupy the ninth and bottom position.

Although neither team is in contention for a spot in the WTC final, the series presents an opportunity for both sides to improve their standings.

The West Indies squad will be led by captain Kraigg Brathwaite, and includes debutant Amir Jangoo, who earns his maiden Test call-up, alongside returning left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie.

This series is significant not only due to the long gap since their last Test series in Pakistan but also as both teams look to close the gap in the World Test Championship rankings.
