Guyana Harpy Eagles Prepare for CWI Regional Four-Day Championship

January 14, 2025

The Guyana Harpy Eagles’ Head Coach, Ryan Hercules, emphasized a patient and focused approach as the team prepares for the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional Four-Day Championship.

The defending champions will take their preparation one step at a time as they look to build on their previous successes.

Following the completion of their first practice match at the Guyana National Stadium, Hercules expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance.

The coach highlighted that the team would approach their preparation by taking it session by session, adapting to different opportunities and conditions each day.

He noted that while there are plans for batting, bowling, and fielding, the focus remains on staying grounded and keeping things as simple as possible in the lead-up to the competition.

The practice match saw Kemol Savory’s XI secure a five-wicket victory over Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s XI.

Chanderpaul’s team posted a total of 230 in their first innings, with Kevlon Anderson contributing a solid 69 runs.

Thaddeus Lovell’s impressive bowling performance, claiming 5 wickets for 45 runs, helped keep the score in check.

Savory’s XI responded with 275, thanks to strong contributions from Savory and Akshaya Persaud, both scoring 89 runs each.

In their second innings, Chanderpaul’s team was bowled out for 164, with Junior Sinclair taking 4 wickets for 10 runs.

Set a target of 120 for victory, Savory’s XI reached 121 for 5 in 26 overs, securing the win.

The final practice match is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 15, at the same venue, starting at 10 a.m.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles continue to fine-tune their preparations as they gear up for the CWI Regional Four-Day Championship.
