Region Ten Tourism Committee Launches Training Programmes

By Tracey Liverpool | January 9, 2025

The Region Ten Tourism Committee (RTTC) is intensifying its efforts to boost the local tourism industry with a series of training programs set to begin this January.

These initiatives are designed to build capacity and equip residents with the skills needed to contribute to the growing tourism sector.

The first two sessions will take place in Kwakwani on January 11 and 12, focusing on business development and leadership.

Trea Johnson, Marketing and Branding Representative for the RTTC, emphasized the importance of starting in Kwakwani to ensure that the entire region benefits from the training.

In addition to the Kwakwani sessions, three more training sessions will be held in Linden at the LEN Building, covering front desk operations, vehicle safety, and housekeeping.

These sessions are open to both those already working in tourism-related fields and individuals eager to develop new skills.

Johnson mentioned that this initiative marks the beginning of a series of monthly training sessions, targeting areas such as customer service and housekeeping.

Last year, over 100 people in the service industry benefited from these programs, and the RTTC plans to continue fostering development in the region’s tourism sector through regular, specialized training facilitated by experts.
