In 2024, the Ministry of Housing and Water has expended over $12.5 billion to complete more than 1,600 houses across the coast, ensuring that citizens from all walks of life have the opportunity to become homeowners.
Minister of Housing and Water, Hon. Collin Croal, reported that a significant portion of this investment—$4.3 billion—was directed towards completing more than 550 houses, offering housing solutions across various income categories, including low, moderate, and middle-income housing.
Croal emphasized that the government’s initiative ensures equal access to homeownership, with no one being left behind.
He also announced that over 1,000 additional homes are currently under construction along the coast as part of the national housing program.
These projects are expected to be completed by mid-2025, further expanding housing availability.
The Hinterland Housing Programme, initially allocated $1 billion to build 400 homes, has now disbursed $750 million across regions 1, 7, 8, and 9.
To date, over 100 houses have been handed over in regions 1 and 9, with ongoing construction in the hinterland areas.
This housing initiative is part of the broader national development plan, ensuring that all citizens have access to affordable and quality housing.
