The government is set to begin the distribution of the $100,000 cash grant to pensioners next week, as part of a broader initiative to assist Guyanese citizens.
During a press conference earlier today, PPP General Secretary and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo confirmed that the Ministry of Finance has already prepared checks for pensioners, and the distribution process will begin soon.
Dr. Jagdeo provided an update on the distribution process, revealing that the Ministry of Finance has registered 366,473 individuals, printed 245,436 checks, and delivered over 100,000 of those checks so far.
He also highlighted that distribution has already begun in Region Seven.
In Region Four, approximately 221,000 residents have registered for the grant, with personal details for 156,000 registrants having been verified.
The first phase of the distribution will see around $30 billion being dispersed to citizens, with the initiative set to benefit an estimated 300,000 individuals.
The cash grant is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support its citizens financially.
