Single Mothers Receive Homes for Christmas Through Men on Mission Program

December 26, 2024

In a heartwarming Christmas gesture, two single mothers were presented with the keys to their newly built homes in Cummings Lodge and Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, as part of the Men on Mission (MOM) program.

The initiative continues to make a profound impact on vulnerable families across Guyana, offering a renewed sense of hope and opportunity during this festive season.

The Men on Mission program, aimed at empowering marginalized families, has already seen the construction of over 60 homes and the completion of hundreds of home improvement projects across the country.

Through this initiative, President Irfaan Ali emphasized the importance of “reaching the unreached,” providing the less fortunate with stability, independence, and a brighter future.

For the two beneficiaries, receiving the keys to their homes was a milestone.

Denise Blades and Kirtimatie Ramraj expressed deep gratitude, recognizing the transformative power of homeownership.

Both women shared that their new homes symbolize a crucial step toward independence, despite ongoing development challenges in their neighborhoods.

In a statement, President Ali underscored the economic benefits of homeownership, stating that this initiative would continue to grow and benefit communities across the nation.

He highlighted the collective effort involved, calling it a “labour of love” that fosters stronger, more resilient communities.

Beyond providing housing, the Men on Mission program has supported victims of disasters, organized counseling sessions, and implemented health and mentorship initiatives in various regions.

This Christmas Day delivery of homes marks another significant achievement in the ongoing work of Men on Mission, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Guyanese citizens.
