President Dr. Irfaan Ali has strongly criticized the political opposition for what he described as the “falsification of facts” regarding the management of the Natural Resources Fund (NRF) under his administration.

Addressing the allegations on social media, President Ali referred to the opposition’s claims of government abuse of oil revenues as an attempt to mislead the public.

Specifically, he pointed to letters published in the media accusing the government of mismanaging the NRF.

In his defense, the President highlighted that it was under the previous APNU/AFC government that an unlawful NRF Act was enacted following the passing of the No-confidence motion.

He reminded the public that during that time, there was significant financial mismanagement, yet none of the current critics had spoken out.

President Ali emphasized that his administration has operated within the framework of Guyana’s constitution, showing the contrast in governance between his government and the APNU/AFC.

Upon assuming office, President Ali’s administration amended the NRF Act to ensure greater governance, enhanced transparency, and increased parliamentary oversight.

He concluded by accusing those attempting to discredit his government’s actions of spreading misinformation and distorting the truth for political gain.
