On Tuesday, the government presented a boat to the Baracara Primary School in Region Six, an essential move to ensure that children in the area can safely cross the river and attend school.
This initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing commitment to improve access to education, particularly for students living in remote areas.
The boat, which will be used primarily by the Education Department in Baracara, was officially handed over by Minister of Finance and Public Service, Dr. Ashni Singh, on behalf of President Irfaan Ali.
Minister Singh highlighted the significance of the boat in ensuring that all children in the catchment area have access to quality primary education.
The Head Mistress of Baracara Primary School, Carol Adams, expressed her gratitude for the new resource, acknowledging that it would play a crucial role in improving student attendance and punctuality.
She assured the government that the school would take excellent care of the boat.
This boat is part of a broader effort by the government to address logistical challenges and enhance educational opportunities for children in rural communities.
With this new addition, students will now be able to travel safely and more efficiently to and from school.
