The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) hosted its annual Christmas Tree Light-Up event on Sunday at Freedom House and the Recreational Park in New Amsterdam, marking another year of holiday celebrations for the community.
The event featured a festive tree-lighting ceremony and the distribution of toys, drawing a large crowd of families and children.
Approximately 1,500 children from the region received gifts and goodie bags as part of the initiative, aimed at spreading holiday cheer.
The Minister of Finance and Public Service highlighted the event’s significant turnout, noting its role in fostering community engagement and celebrating the country’s cultural diversity.
Officials emphasized that such activities reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity and social cohesion during the holiday season.
The Mayor of Corriverton Town Council credited local donors and organizations for contributing to the success of the event.
The planning process involved collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure a well-executed celebration for families in the region.
