Guardians and Kobras Secure Victories in One Guyana Basketball League

December 2, 2024

Wednesday evening at the National Gymnasium was filled with exciting basketball action as the One Guyana Basketball League continued with two highly competitive matchups.

The first game saw the Plaisance Guardians dominate the Black Caimans with an emphatic 81-53 victory.

The Guardians’ fast-paced offense and relentless defense set the tone for the game, leaving the Caimans struggling to keep up.

Delroy Critchlow was the standout performer, finishing with an impressive 23 points.

He was well-supported by teammates Joel McPhoy, who contributed 17 points, and Kadeem Beckles, who added 12 points, ensuring the Guardians maintained control throughout the match.

In the second game, the Prospect Kobras triumphed over the Masters in a tightly contested battle, securing a 62-52 win.

The Masters displayed determination and resilience, but the Kobras’ disciplined play at key moments in the game proved to be the difference.

Trevor Smith emerged as the hero for the Kobras, leading his team with a game-high 21 points.

Despite strong performances from the Masters’ Stephon Gillis, who led with 18 points, and Leon Richards, who added 14, their efforts weren’t enough to change the outcome.

The One Guyana Basketball League continues over the weekend with four games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, promising more exciting basketball action.
