The Guyana Police Force (GPF) held its Annual Christmas Awards Ceremony at the Police Officers’ Mess, Eve Leary, on Thursday, recognizing the exceptional dedication and service of over 5,000 officers throughout 2024.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) stood out, earning high praise for its significant contributions to law enforcement.
Cadet Officer David Prince, Deputy Head of the Narcotics Branch within the CID, was named Best Cop for 2024.
Prince led multiple impactful operations, including the recovery of firearms and narcotics, further bolstering public safety.
Detective Inspector Krishna Seetaram, also of the CID, received the runner-up Best Cop title, further showcasing the department’s outstanding performance this year.
The ceremony also celebrated Divisional Best Cops and recognized male and female sports personalities.
Special awards were given for contributions to community development, with faith-based leaders, youth groups, and the business sector acknowledged for their support.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Ravindradat Budhram commended the ranks for their dedication, emphasizing that their efforts had been instrumental in the GPF’s successes in 2024.
A total of $173 million in incentives was disbursed to officers, highlighting the government’s commitment to rewarding exemplary service.
The event not only honored operational excellence but also recognized contributions to sports and community engagement, reinforcing the GPF’s commitment to holistic development within its ranks and communities.
