The long-awaited $30 million upgrade to Uncle Eddie’s Home was officially completed this week, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central.

This renovation is part of the club’s 40th-anniversary celebration.

The project, which transformed the previously dilapidated and unsafe environment into a safe and comfortable space for elderly residents, was a significant undertaking.

Rotary Club President Jagdesh Haripershad highlighted the extensive work done on the facility, which included repainting the building, replacing old furniture and equipment, and installing modern amenities such as new stoves, refrigerators, and toilets.

The renovations also included replacing tiles and other structural improvements, creating a clean, functional, and dignified living space for the residents.

Yolanda James, President of Uncle Eddie’s Home, expressed how the upgrades will enhance both the daily living conditions and care provided to the residents.

She mentioned that the new fixtures will improve kitchen operations and overall comfort in the living and residential areas.

James also noted that the project exceeded initial expectations, providing an uplifting atmosphere in the facility.

The renovation is part of a broader effort to improve both the physical infrastructure and the services offered at Uncle Eddie’s Home.

Future plans include the addition of a daycare facility to further support the elderly residents.

The renovation project was made possible through generous donations, including a $20 million cash contribution from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In addition, donors like Food for the Poor, Chung Global Inc., and the Ministry of Public Works contributed $10 million worth of materials and labor.
