VP Jagdeo Assures Citizens Over Cash Grant Verification Process Amid Opposition Claims

By Celestine Chacon | November 22, 2024

In a press briefing on Thursday, PPP General Secretary and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo addressed concerns raised by the political opposition regarding the government’s cash grant initiative.

Jagdeo reassured citizens that the verification process for the one-hundred-thousand-dollar cash grant is legitimate and not tied to election manipulation, as alleged by the opposition.

The opposition has released a statement suggesting that the verification process, which involves collecting personal details such as QR codes on IDs, is being conducted for election purposes.

Dr. Jagdeo clarified that the information being gathered is part of a transparent process aimed at ensuring the right individuals receive their entitled grant.

He explained that the process is essential for verification, registration, and proper distribution of funds, and emphasized that the opposition’s claims are divisive, designed to sow confusion among citizens.

Jagdeo further urged citizens not to heed the opposition’s calls to avoid providing their personal information, stressing that those who follow such advice risk missing out on the grant.

He also noted that Members of Parliament have already submitted their details to ensure they receive their share of the cash grant.

The government’s cash grant initiative, valued at one hundred thousand dollars, is aimed at supporting families across the country.

Dr. Jagdeo reassured the public that the process is fair and transparent, and that all eligible individuals will receive their grant once they complete the necessary verification steps.
