The highly anticipated National Elite 16 Basketball Tournament, organized by the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF), is set to resume tonight at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Jermaine Slater, Vice President of the GBF, has promised fans an exciting and competitive atmosphere as the country’s top basketball teams take to the court.
Despite a slight delay earlier this week due to lighting issues at the venue, the tournament is back on track, and teams are ready to deliver high-intensity games.
The tournament brings together the best basketball talent in Guyana, with the action expected to be fast-paced and thrilling.
The National Elite 16 provides an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and for coaches and officials to assess team performances.
Slater mentioned that this tournament will help identify areas for improvement as the GBF prepares for its National League, scheduled for January 2025.
The tournament had a minor setback when one of the tower lights failed to function properly during Wednesday’s games, leading to a brief postponement.
However, Slater reassured that the situation has been resolved, and the tournament is now proceeding as planned.
Tonight’s games will feature the Black Mambas facing off against the Kwakwani Untouchables at 7:15 PM, followed by the Plaisance Guardians going head-to-head with the Lindeners Victory Valley Royal at 9:15 PM.
Fans can look forward to a night of intense basketball action.
With the tournament heating up, the GBF looks forward to an exciting showdown that will set the stage for future developments in Guyanese basketball.
