Linden Council Postpones Final Statutory Meeting to Resolve Pending Matters

By Tracey Liverpool | November 6, 2024

The Linden Mayor and Town Council has postponed what was to be its final statutory meeting of the year, following the discovery of unresolved issues from previous sessions that were missing from the agenda.

The meeting, held earlier today at the Watooka Guest House, was delayed as the necessary topics for discussion were not included in the outlined agenda.

The meeting began at 10:35 a.m., with Town Clerk Lennox Gasper reading the agenda. It soon became apparent that crucial matters from the previous statutory meeting had not been included for discussion.

In response, Councilor Alicia Bentick recommended holding several committee meetings to address these outstanding issues.

As a result, Deputy Mayor Dominique Blair proposed that the statutory meeting be adjourned until next Thursday, giving time for the necessary committee meetings to take place and for the resulting recommendations to be presented to the full Council.

The motion was approved by the majority of the Council, and the following schedule was set for the committee meetings:

  • Administrative and Legal Affairs Committees: Monday, November 11, at 10 a.m.
  • Finance Committee: Monday, November 11, at 1 p.m.

The statutory meeting will reconvene on Thursday, November 14, at 10 a.m. to address the pending issues and finalize the year’s agenda.

The postponement follows a series of previous meeting adjournments, which left important matters unresolved.

Mayor Solomon emphasized the need to tackle these issues to ensure the progress of the town.

Town Clerk Gasper also noted that he would seek further advice on the most effective way to proceed with the resolution of these matters.

The Linden Mayor and Town Council aims to address all outstanding issues and close out the year’s discussions when it reconvenes next week.
