The new software application designed for the distribution of cash grants will undergo rigorous testing before it is launched to the public.

This was assured by Vice President and PPP General Secretary, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, during a recent press conference.

The process, led by the Ministry of Finance, is currently in its testing phase, with the National Data Management Authority and other key stakeholders involved.

Dr. Jagdeo emphasized the importance of ensuring the app’s security and functionality before it is rolled out.

“We made it clear it has to go through vigorous testing first to ensure it is secure and that it covers all fields,” Dr. Jagdeo explained.

He also confirmed that the app would not be launched until all necessary testing was completed, and that a press conference will be held when it is ready, so citizens both in Guyana and abroad will know how to use it.

Dr. Jagdeo further addressed some confusion about who qualifies for the cash grant.

He clarified that Guyanese citizens living abroad, including those in countries like Barbados, Antigua, Trinidad & Tobago, and even Brooklyn, New York, are eligible to receive the grant, urging people to avoid spreading misinformation.

The app will require users to input personal details such as names, addresses, phone numbers, identification numbers, and geo-locations.

Importantly, the government has stated that proxies will not be allowed to collect the grant on behalf of others.
