The Progressive Youth Organization (PYO), the youth arm of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), continues to experience a significant surge in membership, signaling the party’s growing influence among young people in Guyana.
At a recent forum in Leonora, over 5,000 youths attended and registered to become members, reflecting the increasing appeal of the party among the nation’s younger generation.
Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, General Secretary of the PPP, emphasized that this surge demonstrates how the youth perceive the party as a rising force that addresses the country’s needs while offering a future filled with opportunities.
He noted that the PYO’s activities are resonating with young people who are eager to contribute to the development of Guyana.
Dr. Jagdeo pointed out that the core messages of the PPP, including a focus on national unity, the promotion of a multi-ethnic society, and the provision of world-class services and opportunities for youth, are being amplified through the engagement of the younger demographic.
He highlighted that these forums and engagements are helping to spread the party’s vision and attract new, motivated members.
To date, more than 15,000 young people have participated in PYO engagements across Guyana, with additional forums planned in several regions.
The PYO welcomes individuals aged 14 to 35 to join and contribute to the party’s goals of nation-building and fostering opportunities for the younger population.
The growing participation in the Progressive Youth Organization signifies the PPP’s rising influence among youth, reflecting a broader trend of increasing political engagement by young people in Guyana.
