The Men on Mission (MOM) initiative, launched by President Irfaan Ali in 2022, celebrated its second anniversary on Monday, underscoring its continued dedication to mentorship and support for vulnerable groups across Guyana.
At its inception, President Ali emphasized MOM’s purpose of instilling responsibility, promoting positive role models, and fostering a collective effort to build a progressive support system for the nation’s development.
The initiative, part of the broader “1,000 Men, One Guyana” movement, addresses issues such as violence against women and children while encouraging men to pursue education and self-improvement.
Over the past two years, MOM has made tangible impacts nationwide, including constructing homes for underprivileged families and offering mentorship programs within Guyana’s prisons.
Additionally, the initiative has rolled out youth empowerment programs in all ten administrative regions, aiming to inspire and uplift future generations.
Lt. Colonel Bhageshwar Murli, a MOM Committee Member, highlighted the initiative’s broad scope, noting its housing assistance, mentorship programs, and efforts to reshape perspectives on societal progress and personal development.
Dr. Josh Kanhai, Co-chairperson of the Presidential Youth Advisory Council and MOM Committee Member, expressed gratitude to President Ali for spearheading the initiative.
He commended the team’s achievements and encouraged continued efforts to expand MOM’s positive influence.
As MOM enters its third year, it remains a powerful platform for change, enhancing lives and fostering unity in communities throughout Guyana.
