The Georgetown Public Hospital’s Internal Medicine Department celebrated the graduation of six new Internal Medicine Specialists at a dinner held at Hermanston’s Lodge last evening.
This marks the successful completion of a four-year rigorous training program that has added these specialists to the country’s healthcare system.
The dinner coincided with World Internal Medicine Day, observed on October 28th, and featured several key speakers.
Dr. Mahendra Carpen, Head of Medical Services at Georgetown Public Hospital, delivered the keynote address, reminding the graduates of their immense responsibility to uphold the values of integrity, compassion, and excellence as they embark on their medical careers.
Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, who also spoke at the event, emphasized the importance of such training programs in creating a modern healthcare system that provides quality care to all citizens.
He encouraged the graduates to become leaders within the evolving healthcare environment.
Her Excellency Gale Miller, Commissioner of Belize, urged the new specialists to remain in Guyana and contribute their expertise to the country’s healthcare system.
The program was a collaborative effort between the Georgetown Public Hospital, the University of Guyana, and MacMaster University, Canada.
