The inaugural International Business Conference (IBC) hosted by the Guyana Office for Investment (Go-Invest) successfully captured the attention of global investors, according to Senior Director of Investment, John Edghill.
Speaking on the final day of the conference, Edghill reflected on the event’s success in fostering discussions and generating interest in investments for Guyana’s growing economy.
The conference, held from October 15 to 17, focused on the theme “Building a Strong Tomorrow: Guyana’s Manufacturing Focus.”
Edghill shared that attendees from diverse regions, including Belize, Curacao, French Guiana, France, North America, and Asia, participated in meaningful conversations about potential investments.
He highlighted that while many investors initially approached the event with their own specific interests, they were soon aligning with Guyana’s priority sectors, which is a positive outcome for the country.
Edghill also praised the conference’s focused agenda, clear presentations, and the numerous business-to-business meetings that provided ample networking opportunities.
Go-Invest supported the process by advising investors to partner with local businesses, further boosting investment potential.
Looking ahead, Go-Invest is already preparing for the next International Business Conference in Suriname, scheduled for February 2025, and Edghill expressed high hopes for its success, urging attendees to join the upcoming event.
