Traffic Chief, Senior Superintendent Mahendra Singh, is calling for renewed attention to road safety as accident rates continue to surge.
In a recent interview, Singh expressed his concern over the increasing number of accidents, ranging from minor incidents to severe collisions.
He highlighted the need for all road users to take responsibility for their actions.
Singh explained that while improvements have been made to road infrastructure, such as the Heroes Highway, it is not intended to be used for reckless driving.
He stressed that both drivers and police officers share responsibility for ensuring safety on the roads.
Regarding lorry drivers, Singh emphasized the importance of proper training and control when operating large vehicles.
He urged fleet owners to take responsibility for their drivers’ actions, particularly when driving large trucks that can cause significant damage if not handled correctly.
Singh also highlighted the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and comprehensive driver training as critical steps in preventing accidents.
He reminded that road safety is both a legal and moral obligation, necessary to protect lives and prevent fatalities.
