The vibrant Hindu festival of Navaratri, which began on October 3rd, came to a close on October 12th, with a grand celebration at the Lusignan Gopal Mandir on the East Coast of Demerara.
The festival, dedicated to honoring Goddess Durga, saw devotees gather for the final night of the Satsang, a night of prayer, chanting, and reflection.
Pandit Hardesh Tewari of the Lusignan Gopal Mandir offered words of encouragement, highlighting the importance of resilience in facing life’s adversities.
He urged attendees to live fearlessly and remain steadfast in their journey through life.
In addition, the Pandit emphasized the importance of mental health, acknowledging it as one of the greatest challenges faced by many.
He urged the congregation to take mental well-being seriously and to seek peaceful control of the mind through spiritual practices such as chanting.
Navaratri, a festival observed twice a year, is marked by prayer and fasting, and continues to inspire faith, mental clarity, and strength among its devotees.
