Jamaul John emerged victorious in the first stage of the One Guyana three-stage cycling road race, held in Berbice under challenging heat.
The race, which started at 9:30 AM, saw 45 riders covering a demanding 140 km course from State House in New Amsterdam to No. 46 Village and back.
The lead pack quickly formed, featuring Jamaul John, Aaron Newton, Curtis Dey, Briton John, and Michael Anthony.
In the final stretch, John secured first place, crossing the finish line ahead of Newton, Dey, and Anthony.
In the junior category, Alexander Leung showcased his endurance, taking first place, with Sidwell Sandy in second.
For the Masters, Johann Borrowes clinched victory, followed by Robin Persaud and Horace Borrowes.
In the category 4/5 division, newcomer Roy Mangru outpaced Dave Bissoon, who took second, and Kevin Seaton, who finished third.
The One Guyana 3-Stage Cycling Race, supported by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, is sponsored by the Office of the President, Star Party Rental, ENet, and VNet Communications.
Stage two of the race is scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30 AM from New Schoonard Roundabout, covering 80 km, with the final stage taking place in Georgetown at 3:30 PM.
