Georgetown, Guyana — The Conversation Tree Road Project, a significant infrastructure upgrade connecting the Rupert Craig Highway to Dennis Street, is approaching its final phase.

Public Works Minister Juan Edghill recently conducted a site visit to assess the project’s progress, expressing satisfaction with the developments and noting that the October 31 completion deadline appears achievable.

Project Engineer Kester Hinds reported that relocating utility lines is a priority to complete compaction, install a pedestrian walkway, and pave the road.

The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) is expected to begin the next stage of line relocation, following previous adjustments to main lines.

This will allow the contractor, S. Jagmohan, to proceed with constructing concrete drains on the southern side and finish other required groundwork.

Hinds anticipates that these tasks will be completed on schedule.

Minister Edghill praised the progress on site, noting that the work aligns with planned reports and timelines.

He highlighted the importance of the development and mentioned that future plans include extending the road from the current endpoint to Francois Street, with the procurement process underway.

This upgrade is expected to ease traffic flow, provide reliable connectivity for commuters, and relieve nearby community roads from heavy truck traffic, which has been diverted to minimize wear on local streets.
