On Wednesday, Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) awarded 32 bursaries, amounting to a total of $1.4 million, to the children of its employees.
This marks the fifth bursary award ceremony hosted by GWI, celebrating the achievements of students who excelled in this year’s National Grade Six Assessment.
The event recognized the hard work of these students, providing them with financial support as they pursue their educational journeys.
The Executive Director of GWI, Elvis Jordon, noted that this year saw the largest number of bursary recipients since the program’s inception five years ago.
Among the attendees were the bursary recipients, who expressed their pride in their accomplishments.
One student, who will be attending Bishops High School, shared her happiness about being a top performer, while another recipient reflected on her achievements with mixed emotions, hoping to improve even further.
Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, addressed the students, encouraging them to recognize that their success is determined not solely by the schools they attend, but by their dedication and efforts.
He emphasized that the bursary award serves as both recognition and motivation, highlighting the abundance of opportunities available to them.
GWI continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the educational pursuits of its employees’ children, fostering a culture of achievement and opportunity within the organization.
