The government of Guyana is actively working to resolve the persistent issues of power outages affecting citizens across the country.
This commitment was expressed by the General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and Vice President, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, in a recent statement regarding the situation.
While the government continues to invest in boosting the national energy supply, several factors have contributed to the frequent power disruptions.
Dr. Jagdeo voiced his dissatisfaction with the ongoing blackouts, attributing them primarily to an outdated distribution and transmission system that has not received adequate investment over the past five years.
This aging infrastructure is struggling to meet the increasing demand for electricity.
Moreover, the modernization efforts currently underway in the energy sector have also led to interruptions in service as upgrades are implemented.
Dr. Jagdeo assured the public that significant investments are being made to develop long-term solutions, including the construction of a new control center aimed at enhancing the reliability of the power supply.
The government is focused on ensuring that the necessary improvements will eventually lead to a more stable energy system for all Guyanese citizens.
