GDF Secures Emphatic Victory Over Malteenoes Sports Club in GCA & Friends 2nd Division League

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) delivered a dominant performance to claim victory over Malteenoes Sports Club in the Georgetown Cricket Association and Friends 2nd Division Two-Day League match held at the Malteenoes Sports Club Ground over the weekend.

GDF secured the win by an innings and 19 runs, showcasing their all-round cricketing prowess.

Batting first, GDF posted a commanding total of 276/8 before declaring their innings.

Key contributions came from Joshua Jones, who scored 68 runs, Rockael Reddy, who remained unbeaten on 51, Leon Andrews with 37, and Hakeem David adding 27 runs to the total.

The hosts’ bowler, Kaysie Schultz, put up a commendable effort with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 62 runs in 14.5 overs.

Shemory Barrington and Shaquille Mosley supported with two wickets for 39 and one for 14, respectively.

In response, Malteenoes Sports Club struggled in their first innings, managing only 135 runs.

Barrington top-scored with 58, supported by Tretion Liverpool with 27, and Melville Royal contributing to the batting efforts.

However, the hosts faltered in their second innings, getting bowled out for 122, falling short and sealing their defeat by an innings.

Adrain Hinds tried to steady the innings with 40 runs off 62 balls, but it wasn’t enough to overcome GDF’s strong bowling attack.

Keith Simpson led GDF’s bowling charge in the second innings, taking four wickets, while Leon Lewis and Delshawn Lewis took three and two wickets, respectively. GDF’s aggressive bowling and consistent batting proved too strong for Malteenoes Sports Club, leading to their decisive victory.

With this win, GDF continues to strengthen its position in the league standings, while Malteenoes Sports Club will look to rebound in their upcoming matches as they advance in the GCA & Friends 2nd Division League.
