Corriverton Town Council celebrated the 54th anniversary of the town’s township status on Saturday with a vibrant event at the Corriverton Recreational Park.
The festivities showcased the town’s rich cultural heritage and the diverse talents of its community members.
The celebration included a cultural program that highlighted local traditions and achievements.
Several individuals were honored for their significant contributions to the development and upliftment of Corriverton.
Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Sonia Parag, delivered remarks on behalf of President Irfaan Ali and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo.
She emphasized the government’s commitment to ongoing development in Region Six and assured attendees that additional projects are planned for Corriverton, including significant infrastructural improvements such as the construction of a new Berbice Bridge.
Mayor Imran Amin also addressed the crowd, commending the town for its progress and the successful individuals it has produced since achieving township status.
He encouraged residents to collaborate with the Town Council to further enhance Corriverton’s development and transform it into a premier destination for tourism.
As part of the town’s 54th anniversary celebrations, additional activities are scheduled to take place throughout the week.
