The funds initially allocated for the incomplete Bamia Primary School in Region 10 will be redirected to other critical education projects in the region.
This decision was made during the Regional Democratic Council’s statutory meeting on Thursday.
Regional Chairman Deron Adams sought clarity from the Clerk of Council and Regional Executive Officer, Dwight John, regarding the allocation of funds that were originally budgeted for the Bamia Primary School’s completion.
John confirmed that on August 22, 2024, the Ministry of Finance approved a list of seven education projects to be executed using these funds.
The approved projects include the rehabilitation of the student hostel roof at Kwakwani, among others, aimed at improving education infrastructure across the region.
Despite the reallocation of funds, the Bamia Primary School is still scheduled to be completed by December 2024, with the facility expected to open in January 2025.
The 2025 budget will cover additional elements, including fencing, lighting, a security hut, and landscaping for the state-of-the-art school.
