On September 5th, Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill conducted a comprehensive inspection of infrastructural projects across over 20 communities in Region Three.
The visit aimed to assess ongoing and completed projects and address residents’ concerns regarding community development.
During the inspection, Minister Edghill announced significant upcoming improvements, including the rehabilitation of approximately 29 kilometers of main access roads in Schoonord by the Ministry’s Special Projects Unit.
Additionally, new internal roads will be constructed in Lust-en-Rust.
The minister emphasized that contractors are expected to commence roadworks in Lust-en-Rust by Monday, September 9th, adhering to the agreed-upon standards and timelines.
In Belle West, West Bank Demerara, Minister Edghill engaged with contractors responsible for approximately 20 lots of road construction.
He stressed the importance of proper mobilization and resolution of any issues to ensure smooth progress on the projects.
The inspection also revealed that four projects in the region, from Bendorff East Bank Essequibo to Vriesland West Bank Demerara, had been terminated.
Emergency works will soon begin to address damaged community roads, caused by previous development activities and heavy vehicle usage.
Minister Edghill’s visit underscored the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing community development needs across Region Three.
