Linden Residents Applaud $161 Million Highway Project

By Jacquey Bourne

Residents of Linden, Region Ten, have shown strong support for the recently signed $161 million agreement to construct the new Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

This significant infrastructure project, finalized on Wednesday, involves a partnership between Guy America Construction Inc. (Guyana) and the Trinidadian firm Namalco Construction Services, with the Government of Guyana overseeing the development.

The new highway is anticipated to greatly improve travel conditions and create new opportunities for the region.

The upgrade is expected to address long-standing issues with the current road surface, which has been described as problematic.

The enhanced highway will facilitate smoother transportation, potentially reducing fuel consumption and improving overall travel efficiency.

In addition to upgrading the road, the project will include the installation of approximately 2,900 streetlights, reflective road markings, and designated lay-bys for trucks.

These enhancements are designed to accommodate the increasing volume of traffic and improve road safety.

The Linden Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the initiative, recognizing its potential to drive economic growth in the area.

The reconstruction is seen as a pivotal step towards modernizing the region’s infrastructure and supporting its development.

The project’s completion is expected to bring significant benefits to the local community, including improved connectivity and enhanced road safety.

As the development progresses, it is anticipated to foster further economic opportunities and contribute to the region’s overall advancement.
