Government Commits to Support North Pakaraimas Annual District Games

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to the North Pakaraimas Annual District Games, which began on Monday in Kamana Village, Region 8.

During the opening ceremony for the 2024 edition of the games, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. assured attendees that the government will continue to support the event financially.

The North Pakaraima Sports Committee will receive sustained funding to ensure the ongoing success of future sporting activities, with a commitment to support the games this year and for years to come.

Minister Ramson emphasized the significance of these games for both team development and the growth of local villages.

In addition to Minister Ramson’s remarks, Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai also expressed her appreciation for the dedication of the youth involved.

She highlighted the value of unity and teamwork in showcasing the talents and spirit of the village communities through sports.

This year’s North Pakaraimas District Games feature 22 teams from various locations including Kato, Kopinang, Tuseneng, Itabac, Kamana, Bamboo Creek, Micobie, Chenapou, Paramakatoi, Kanapang, and Maikwak.

The competition, supported by a 7 million dollar investment, encompasses a range of sports disciplines, with teams vying for cash prizes and other incentives.
