The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) is shifting its focus to the 2028 and 2032 Olympic cycles, aiming to provide enhanced support for athletes to achieve greater success on the international stage.
During a press conference, GOA President Godfrey Munroe outlined plans to reset the Olympic program and engage with relevant groups to create new initiatives that would promote the development of local athletes.
With the 2024 Summer Olympics now concluded, the GOA is working closely with over ten national sports federations to ensure that athletes receive the necessary resources and guidance.
Additionally, the GOA intends to collaborate with the Ministry of Health to implement a science-based approach to training, prioritizing injury prevention and overall athlete wellness.
In 2024, five athletes represented Guyana at the Summer Olympics: Emanuel Archibald, Aleka Persaud, Aliyah Abrams, Raekwon Noel, and Chelsea Edghill. Moving forward, the GOA is committed to building on this experience and preparing athletes for success in future Olympic competitions.
