President Dr. Irfaan Ali has announced a series of projects for the Amerindian village of Monkey Mountain, Region Eight, amounting to over $42 million.
These include the completion of three bridges and the construction of a shade house.
The president, currently on a two-day outreach to the Potaro-Siparuni region, explained that these initiatives would significantly boost economic opportunities for the community.
Additionally, Dr. Ali revealed the construction of a new secondary school at a cost of over $199 million, alongside substantial investments in the health sector.
These include a $39 million upgrade to the Monkey Mountain Health Centre’s electrical system and $7.5 million for staff quarters.
President Ali emphasized his government’s dedication to rural development, noting that approximately $600 million has been invested in the region over the past four years.
