UNICEF Hosts Digital Skills Workshop for Youth on International Youth Day

By Fabiana McKlmon

Approximately 80 young participants engaged in a one-day digital skills workshop organized by UNICEF to mark International Youth Day 2024.

The workshop aimed to emphasize the role of digital innovation in driving progress and development.

UNICEF’s Area Representative for Guyana and Suriname, Nicolas Charles Pron, highlighted the significance of digital innovation in economic advancement and global development.

He noted that the role of youth is crucial in bridging existing gaps in digitalization as the 2030 deadline for the UN Sustainable Development Goals approaches.

Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, Charles Ramson, underscored the importance of youth involvement in the digital era.

He emphasized that young people hold the vision and ideas necessary to propel innovation and address global challenges.

International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, serves to raise awareness about youth issues and celebrate the potential of young people as active contributors to global society.
