Guyana’s Top Badminton Talents Set to Compete at Carebaco Junior International in Aruba

Guyana is sending a formidable contingent of 20 players to the Carebaco Junior International badminton tournament in Aruba, scheduled to take place from August 22-25.

This annual Caribbean event, organized by the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation, features players aged 11-18 from across the region.

The team, mentored and trained by top senior players Priyanna Ramdhani and Akili Haynes, is preparing for a strong showing.

Among the notable players are Mishka Beharry, Frank Waddell, Joel Rambiriche, and Anjaneysa Godette, each expressing confidence in their ability to perform well and secure medals.

Beharry aims to leverage her experience for a medal-winning performance, while Waddell feels well-prepared and believes he can achieve his best.

Rambiriche is looking forward to gaining valuable experience, and Godette, a proven international competitor, hopes to deliver another strong performance.

The team is also receiving guidance from Nkosi Beaton, who previously participated in the PANAM camp in Mexico.

Coach Priyanna Ramdhani and Akili Haynes will lead the team, with Emily Ramdhani from the Guyana Badminton Association serving as the team manager.

Last year, Guyana secured a bronze medal in the girls’ U15 category, and the team is eager to build on this success.
