Stormy Victory Prepares for Guyana Cup 2024 Horse Racing Meet

One of the newly imported thoroughbreds, Stormy Victory, is settling in well ahead of the 2024 edition of the Guyana Cup Horse Racing meet, scheduled for August 11th.

The horse, from Simply Royals Racing Stables, arrived this week alongside six other top-class competitors, poised to compete for millions in prize money at the Rising Sun Turf Club.

Stormy Victory began training at Port Mourant on Tuesday under the guidance of veteran jockey and trainer, Winston Appadu, who expressed confidence in the horse’s performance, noting that the animal was adjusting comfortably to the local conditions.

Stormy Victory was imported from Miami and arrived in Guyana in good condition, according to co-owner Christopher Deroop.

Stormy Victory’s record this year includes one win, one second place, and one third place in seven starts, making him a strong contender for the upcoming race.

Appadu, who rode last year’s winning horse, is eager for the competition, while jockey Paul Delph, the first-ever Guyana Cup champion, is determined to reclaim his title this year.

The 16th running of the Guyana Cup promises over GYD 40 million in cash prizes, significantly surpassing last year’s total purse of GYD 24 million.

The drawing for this year’s race entries will take place on August 4, revealing the top horses to fans ahead of the event.
