The ‘Teach Them Young’ table tennis programme is currently underway at the National Gymnasium, a collaborative effort between the Guyana Table Tennis Association, the National Sports Commission, and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Ltd.
National Table Tennis Coach Linden Johnson has identified several key areas for improvement that he believes will greatly benefit the sport.
Johnson emphasized the mental and physical advantages of table tennis, making it an excellent activity for youth development.
He aims to enhance the talent pool through this programme, providing young athletes with the necessary skills to excel in competitions.
The ‘Teach Them Young’ programme began on Monday and will continue until August 22, running from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday.
This training camp is designed for beginners and intermediate players, focusing on teaching the fundamentals and correct techniques to boys and girls aged 6 to 16 years.
Parents are also encouraged to participate in the programme, with sessions available on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm and Sundays at 3:30 pm.
