England secured a decisive 241-run victory over the West Indies on the fourth day of the second Test, concluding the three-match series with a comprehensive win.
Facing a daunting target of 385 runs, the West Indies were unable to sustain their momentum, collapsing dramatically from 61-0 to 82-5 in a tumultuous session.
The team ultimately crumbled to 143 all out, sealing England’s series win.
The West Indies started their chase with promising contributions from openers Mikyle Louis and Kraigg Brathwaite, who added 61 runs to the board.
However, England’s pace attack, led by Chris Woakes, dismantled their top order. Woakes dismissed both openers, setting the stage for a dramatic collapse.
Shoaib Bashir played a pivotal role in England’s victory, delivering an exceptional performance with figures of 3-8 in just 15 balls.
Bashir, who became the youngest England bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in a home Test, was well-supported by Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson, who also contributed key wickets.
Despite a resilient first innings from the West Indies, where they posted a total of 457 thanks to a century from Hodge, they could not match England’s second innings dominance.
Joe Root and Harry Brook each scored centuries, further pressuring the West Indies.
The final Test of the series will be held at Edgbaston on Friday, July 26.
