Lindeners Receive ‘Because We Care’ Cash Grant

By Jacquey Bourne

Linden residents gathered earlier today for the distribution of the “Because We Care” cash grant at several schools across Region 10.

The initiative, aimed at supporting parents with educational expenses, saw increased disbursements this year, with each child receiving $45,000.

This includes a $40,000 cash grant and an additional $5,000 for uniforms.

NCN captured scenes from distribution points at Wismar Shore, New Silver City Secondary School, Harmony Hall Secondary, and One Mile Primary School, highlighting the community’s participation and gratitude for the financial support.

Stacy Duke, a parent, expressed appreciation for the grant, emphasizing its importance in covering educational essentials such as textbooks for her children.

The distribution will continue tomorrow, ensuring that all eligible parents have an opportunity to collect their grants.

Those unable to collect today can coordinate with the Regional Office or utilize the Ministry of Education’s online platform to authorize another person to collect on their behalf.

The ‘Because We Care’ cash grant is available to students enrolled in both public and private schools, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting education and easing financial burdens on families.
