As Guyana gears up to commemorate its 58th Independence Anniversary, the spirit of national unity takes center stage.
Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, emphasized the importance of unity during his visit to Linden to oversee the final preparations for the National Independence Flag Raising Ceremony at the Mackenzie Stadium.
The Minister called on all Guyanese to embrace each other as the country celebrates its nationhood. “I believe that every…” stated Hon. Juan Edghill, Minister of Public Works, stressing the significance of collective unity among citizens.
With stringent traffic and security arrangements in place, authorities aim to ensure the safety of patrons and smooth traffic flow to and from the venue.
Additionally, Minister Edghill provided insights into the program for the flag raising ceremony, highlighting the various activities planned for the event.
The ceremony, scheduled for May 25th, holds profound historical significance as it marks the day when, in 1966, the Union Jack was lowered, and the Golden Arrowhead was raised, symbolizing Guyana’s independence from British rule.
Guyanese from all walks of life are encouraged to come together at the Mackenzie Stadium to commemorate the country’s 58th year as a resilient independent nation.
