Kuru Kururu ‘A’ Emerges Victorious in PPP/C Futsal Championship

In the 2nd annual PPP/C Soesdyke, Timehri Highway Cluster Futsal Championship, Kuru Kururu ‘A’ demonstrated their prowess and emerged as champions.

Facing off against Waiakabra in the final match of the tournament, Kuru Kururu ‘A’ secured victory with a first-half goal scored by Kevon Scott.

This lone goal proved to be decisive, earning them the championship title. As champions, they were awarded a cash prize of $400,000 along with the coveted trophy.

Waiakabra, the runners-up, received a cash prize of $200,000 for their commendable performance. In the third-place playoff, Soesdyke triumphed over Kuru Kururu with a 3-1 victory.

The tournament saw participation from 15 teams representing various villages including Banakari, Silverhill, Laluni, St. Cuthbert’s Mission, and Hauraruni.

Individual accolades were also bestowed upon outstanding players.

Sunil Logan from Waiakabra was recognized as the highest goal scorer with six goals, while his teammate Selon Fernandes received the Most Valuable Player award.

Joshua Wilson was honored as the best goalkeeper of the competition.

PPP/C representative and Public Affairs Minister, Kwame McCoy, reiterated the government’s commitment to sports development during the prize distribution ceremony.

He also praised the collective efforts that contributed to the successful organization of the tournament.
