Thirty-two residents of Laing Avenue received a significant boost on Monday as they were granted assistance vouchers by the Housing Ministry.
Each beneficiary was presented with a $250,000 voucher to facilitate home repairs, along with an additional $100,000 to cover labor costs.
This assistance marks the third batch of recipients in the community to benefit from the Government’s initiative aimed at promoting homeownership through housing repairs.
The beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude for the transformative impact of the vouchers.
Mr. Christian, one of the recipients, shared his excitement, highlighting the opportunity to conduct long-awaited repairs and paint his home.
Ann Braithwaite expressed her appreciation, emphasizing her desire to enhance her living space with “lil finaries.”
Similarly, Ron Johnson conveyed his gratitude for the assistance provided.
Housing and Water Minister, Collin Croal, disclosed that a total of $31.5 million has been invested in voucher distribution to date.
He encouraged other residents to take advantage of the housing subsidy, underscoring the Government’s commitment to providing affordable housing solutions.
The $50 million house improvement program, introduced in July 2023 by Vice-President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, targets residents of Laing Avenue and Yarrow Dam. I
ts objective is to ensure that individuals from all segments of society have access to affordable housing solutions.
As the Housing Ministry continues to prioritize housing assistance initiatives, residents of Laing Avenue and beyond are poised to benefit from improved living conditions and enhanced housing infrastructure.
