Today marked a significant milestone in Guyana’s healthcare sector as Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony unveiled state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment in Regions Three, Four, and Five. Valued at $49.2 million, the equipment includes ultrasound machines and digital X-ray units, aimed at revolutionizing diagnostic services in the country.
The introduction of digital X-ray units signifies a shift from traditional analogue systems to modern digital technology.
This transition is expected to not only improve the quality of diagnostic services but also expand their reach within the regions.
Portable ultrasound machines were also distributed, providing healthcare professionals with advanced tools for accurate diagnosis and facilitating outreach initiatives across the regions.
Regional health officials welcomed the new equipment, emphasizing its potential to enhance patient care and streamline diagnostic processes in their respective facilities.
In addition to the equipment rollout, Minister Anthony announced plans for a comprehensive training program for ultrasound technicians, in collaboration with a Canadian college.
This initiative aims to ensure that healthcare professionals are equipped with the necessary skills to maximize the benefits of the new technology.
The distribution of similar equipment to other regions is underway, underscoring the government’s commitment to modernizing healthcare infrastructure and improving access to quality diagnostic services nationwide.
