The $1.9 billion project at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara, is currently around 30 percent complete.
Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, along with engineers from Guyana Water Inc, recently visited the project site to inspect the progress.
The project includes the installation of three new filters, a contact tank, storage tank, and a pumping station designed to treat 20 million liters of water per day.
Minister Croal expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that the works are proceeding according to plan.
He highlighted that the completion date is set for before the end of 2024, aiming for November.
Despite initial challenges, the project is progressing well.
Once operational, the Bachelor’s Adventure Plant will remove iron content from the well water before distribution, benefiting residents of Enterprise, Bachelor’s Adventure, Paradise, Enmore, Golden Grove, and surrounding areas.
Minister Croal urged residents to remain patient as efforts continue to ensure access to clean water.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling this promise by the end of 2025, with the project falling under the Coastal Water Treatment Infrastructure Programme (CWTIP).
The report underscores the significance of the ongoing project in improving water infrastructure and access for communities along the East Coast of Demerara.
