The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security has initiated a comprehensive house-to-house verification exercise aimed at ensuring accurate records of individuals receiving old age pension and public assistance across the country.
Oversight Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud emphasized the significance of this initiative, noting that it addresses the issue of recipients being inadvertently excluded from the ministry’s database during various administrative processes.
Minister Persaud outlined the scope of the verification exercise, highlighting its focus on capturing all eligible individuals, including those living with permanent disabilities.
She assured that every effort would be made to include every qualified person on the updated list.
Moreover, the verification process adopts a proactive approach by targeting senior citizens approaching pension age, enabling the ministry to anticipate their needs and streamline services accordingly.
In parallel efforts to enhance accessibility and efficiency, the ministry has introduced measures such as online application processes and multiple encashment options, including MMG, banking facilities, MoneyGram, and Sure Pay.
These measures aim to minimize waiting times and alleviate overcrowding at service venues, ensuring that vulnerable groups can access their benefits conveniently from their homes.
This countrywide verification exercise underscores the ministry’s commitment to serving the needs of pensioners and individuals requiring public assistance, ensuring that they receive timely and accurate support.
